FNRSA Bowling Club Tournament. Another successful happy day of bowls was played when 16 teams of mixed triples took part in the FN Kaitaia RSA Bowling Club Shackleton’s Unichem Chemist sponsored tournament on Saturday 8th April. The weather and the greens were perfect for play and no wind to blame for any wayward bowls. President Ian Macnee who before play started, had welcomed the players from the various clubs and thanked them for continuing to support the tournaments over the summer. At the end of the days play then commended the workers behind the scenes of Kevin for the green keeping, Dawn the catering, Kath the timekeeping and raffles and Tupu and Jean, being the conveners for the day. He then introduced Raewyn Taffe who on behalf of the sponsor presented the prizes to the winning teams being: First, Barry Allison, Sando Edmonds and Glenis Muir with 4 wins, 23 ends and 49 points. Second place were Marty Doak, Doug Robb and Ann Inglis 4 wins, 17 ends, 32 points. Third place went to Mike Reddy, Greg Taylor and Yvonne Anderson with 3 wins plus a draw, 22 ends, 34 points.
