Far North RSA Bowling Club Pak N’ Save Mixed Triples.

15 teams of Bowlers from Coopers Beach, Houhora, and Church Road Clubs and our own members, competed on Saturday 11 June, in what turned out after the fog lifted, to be a perfect, sunny, warm, early winters day at the Far North RSA Bowls Club, Kaitaia, for its annual Pak N’ Save tournament.

After a sumptuous afternoon tea, President Ian Macnee thanked the Greenkeeper Moss Hotere, the Caterer Dawn Hargreaves, and the Conveners for the work they had done to make the day so successful and also commented on how nice it was to see all the players enjoying themselves and in such a happy mood.   He then asked Immediate Past President Val Jones, who he introduced as “ Camp Mother” to present the prizes.

Out of the fifteen teams competing in the mixed triples, 3 teams, with very close scores between them, won all four of their games.

The  lucky winners were:  Marty Doak, Margaret Perry, Glenis Muir with 4 wins, 24 ends, 43 points, 1st; Trevor Smith, Pam Naylor, Nancy Page with 4 wins, 23 ends, 50 points, 2nd;  Tupu Campbell, Jill Phillips, Paul Burren with 4 wins, 22 ends 50 points, 3rd. The lucky draw for the chocolates went to Bruce Bird, Pat Haines and Ian Panther.

Also of interest was 9yr old Ezrah Hill playing in his first open tournament with his grandmother Evelyn Bradley.

Our next tournament is the Patrons Open Mixed Triples , sponsored by Bruce and Loma Bird to be held on Saturday 9th July.  Any teams wishing to enter please Adele Gardner phone 408 0638 or Pat Haines ph 408 3620.
