The Club held the Men’s and Women’s (report to follow) Championship Fours over the weekend in fine but windy conditions.

There were 6 teams entered which was reduced to two at the end of the day’s play. Mike Reddy (skip) Barry Allison (three) Alan Thom (two) Alan Bright (lead) with 2 lives and with one life John Hodgson (skip) Selwyn Hargreaves (three) Ian Macnee (two) Sando Edmonds (lead). This match was a final/possible final with no time limit and 15 ends. John’s team got away to a good start leading 6-1 after 5 ends and maintained the lead  to be 9-7 up until the penultimate end when John’s team went off track and conceded 5 shots to give Barry’s team a 12-9 lead and to go on to win the championship 15-9. This was a hard fought contest with only 3 ends scoring 2 shots and the remainder all one shot until the 5 shot 14th end.

Congratulations to the winners and a special thanks to Dawn for the catering, Moss for the excellent condition of the green, match convenor Selwyn and last but not least the spectators who turned out on the second day to support both teams.
