The club played the annual RSA Nationals Elimination Triples over the weekend. There was a good entry of 12 teams with the winners to represent the Far North RSA in March 2016 at Gore.

At the completion of the 1st day (played in very cold & windy conditions) there were 4 teams remaining. Winnie Burkhardt-Don Lilly-Greg Taylor, Peter Dorreen-Paul & Jean Huxtable, Barry Allison-Alan Thom-Trevor Smith, Marty Doak-Russell Hockley-Toto Thompson.

The second day saw a great improvement in the weather and in the 1st game Allison eliminated Burkhardt and Dorreen ended Doak’s run. The final/possible final (18 ends no time limit) saw Dorreen (2 lives) against Allison (1 life) in what proved to be an excellent game of bowls with the lead changing several times. It was 12 all at the 14th end, Allison then scored 3 shots to lead 15-12 but Dorreen and his team then scored on the reaming 3 ends to take the tournament 17-15. Congratulations to the team and we wish them well when they go to Gore to play in the Nationals. Of note; a bit of history was achieved with Jean Huxtable being the 1st woman to represent the Far North RSA in the Nationals. Well Done Jean.
